Four Radcliffe AC members started their Bank Holiday Monday with the Monton 5 Miler on closed roads around Ellesmere Park in Monton.
Sheila Jones bagged her first age category (FV70) win of the week in 40:32, joined on the day by Karen Doherty (43:53), John Szubert (43:57) and Tracy Wroe (56:17).
Another four from the club attended the Holcombe Two Towers Fell Race on Wednesday, with Ian Swan delivering another impressive result of 42:33, followed by Karen Doherty (01:01:15), Ethan Malone (1:15:24) and Charlotte Holden (1:15:26). This 6.5km route with 1,312 feet of ascent across moorland trails and woodland sections set off from nearby the Hare & Hounds, following Holcombe Old Road before heading through Redisher Woods.
On the same night, seven seniors and three juniors enjoyed the bright lights of Blackpool for the Brian House Children’s Hospice Blackpool Night Run. Brian House is the only children’s hospice on the Fylde coast and helps to care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
Mark Taylor was the first back to Blackpool Tower in 34:01. Other results included Dominic Parry (35:05), Chemane Thomas (36:40), Paul Stevens (42:49), Bev Quinton (56:27), Sara Parry (58:59) and Lucie Tighe 1:03:32, with Juniors Skyler (1:03:28), Benjamin (1:03:31) and Seth (1:05:32).
Sunday saw Sheila Jones pick up her second category (FV70) win at Haxby 10k in 50:30. This flat course took place on the surrounding streets and closed roads to the north of Haxby in North Yorkshire.
Also on Sunday, runners at the Crowden Horseshoe Fell Race followed the 8 mile route along the scenic Pennine Way via Laddow Rocks to the summit of Black Hill (Soldiers Lump trig point), before descending along the old Pennine Way via Toolyshaw. Ian Swan was again the first back in 1:25:48. Other results included Donna Cartwright (1:32:31), Christopher Mihalyi (1:36:40), Mark Garner (1:38:45), Neil Greenhalgh (1:42:22), Karen Doherty (2:03:26) and Stephen Crowe (2:10:10).
