Our Club

Welcome to Radcliffe Athletic Club!

We are proud to have been established for 40 years, training, supporting and encouraging runners of all abilities.

At our club you are guaranteed a warm welcome, plenty of support and the opportunity to make friends with like-minded people.

The club is based at Bury Livingwaters Church (Close Methodist), Dumers Lane, Radcliffe, M26 2GB. We meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, 7pm-8.30pm.

There is a choice of training sessions, from beginners through to competition racing.

On Mondays there is normally a 5/6.5km run and two 10km runs, based on ability and choice, for adults (age 16 and over). Each group has a run leader to oversee the session and provide support.

On Wednesdays we alternate between a hill session, which leaves from the club, and a track session at Bury Track, Market Street, Bury, BL9 9FX. 

There are also strength and conditioning sessions at the club at 7pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Our juniors (ages eight to 16) meet at the club at 7pm on Mondays.

Fantastic week of racing for Radcliffe AC’s Oliver Swan

On Tuesday the highly anticipated Ramsbottom Summer Mile was attended by many from Radcliffe AC hoping to score PBs whilst enjoying the atmosphere of the event.  

Gary Adkins was the fastest club member, whipping round Nuttall Park in just 5:09. Junior Lexi was the overall winner of the 1k fun run! She was joined by Erin, Rowan, Thomas, Luke, Poppy, Skyler, Gracie and Benjamin 

This Wednesday two headed for the Whittle Pike Fell Race in Cowpe. This 8.9 km route had around 550m of elevation and saw Ian Swan finish in 1:02:33 and Mark Garner in 1:11:24. 

On Saturday, Phil Booth was in Blackpool for Run the Lights 10k starting and finishing at the Blackpool Tower Festival Headland along Blackpool Promenade, finishing in 44:08.  

In his second race of the week, Oliver Swan scored a PB on Sunday at the Oulton Park Running GP 10k in Tarporley, completing the route around the Oulton Park motor circuit in Cheshire in an impressive time of 54:00. 

The latest in the Run the Moors series of fell races was Piethorne 10k with a good turnout from the club. Khama Banda delivered an amazing result on the day, finishing in 7th place overall in just 41:06, despite the challenging terrain. He was followed by Michael Aiken (48:28), Neil Greenhalgh (55:09), Mark Garner (58:16), Lucie Tighe (58:32), Jack Connor (1:02:41), Laura Aiken (1:05:35), Lisa Antrobus (1:07:15), Kathryn Davies (1:10:18), Peter Warr (1:10:26), Stephen Crowe (1:10:58), Ethan Holden-Malone (1:12:43), Charlotte Holden-Malone (1:12:43), David Bartlett (1:13:07) and Alison Howarth (1:13:44).

Horde of Radcliffe Runners Hit Heaton Park parkrun for Mark Taylor’s 250th

On Saturday Kath Biddle of Radcliffe AC took on the Brecon Beacons 51k Ultra. Starting in Talybont-on-Usk taking runners across sweeping moorland, forestry tracks, reservoirs, and exposed mountain ridges with over 7,000 ft of elevation, Kath completed the challenging distance in 9:25:27.   

 

Mark Garner then headed for his latest fell race, the Chip Chase, a tough 10k route which he traversed in 1:06:26. This BS category fell race boasted 400m of climb, set off from the Cross Keys Inn in Uppermill, Saddleworth and includepost-race chip butties.  

Mark Taylor ran his 250th parkrun this week at Heaton Park in 23:48, joined by many club members who turned up to help celebrate this impressive milestone. Dominic Parry of Radcliffe AC hits 350 parkruns in the Netherlands

This Sunday, four Radcliffe AC members hit the York 10k. This race which takes runners through the city and was launched in 2009 is now one of Yorkshire’s most popular 10Ks.  

Starting and finishing in Knavesmire Road near York Racecourse, the route heads through some of the city’s most historic landmarks which include the ancient city walls, Clifford’s Tower and the minster. John Bradford was first for the club in a speedy 45:08 and was joined by Chemane Thomas (53:58), Bev Quinton (1:21:37), and Michael Scott (1:22:50).  

Dominic Parry knocked out the very impressive milestone of 350 parkruns this weekend whilst at Stadspark parkrun in the Netherlands (24:28), joined by wife Sara Parry (42:01).  

Junior Isla ran her 25th parkrun over in Erddig, Wales (42:47) joined by John Szubert (34:15) and sister Cora (45:19).
