Category wins for speedy Radcliffe AC members at the Ramsbottom Summer Mile

On Tuesday evening, Ramsbottom Running Club held their 8th annual Summer Mile, with 37 senior and nine junior Radcliffe AC members taking part.  This popular race set in Nuttall Park is a sell out every year, with runners set off in waves based on their estimated finish time on the flat, fast out and back course.  

 

First up, juniors Alexandra, Benjamin, Byron, Eliza, Jake, Luke, Oliver, Skyler and William completed the 1k fun run. They then cheered on the adults in each wave, enjoying the brilliant atmosphere and various stalls at this eagerly anticipated event.

 

For the senior mile, Steven Fawcett was the fastest finisher for the club in a spectacular time of 5:33, followed by Ian Swan (5:56), Neil Swithenbank (6:06), Alex Field (6:08), Paul Stevens (6:18), Mark Garner (6:19), Dominic Parry (6:19), Michael Kontowtt (3rd VM60) (6:21), Mark Williams (6:28), Mark Taylor (6:30), Donna Cartwright (1st VW45) (6:30), Emma Horner (6:30), Ethan Malone (6:38), Amanda Callan (6:45), Paula Abernethy (1st VW60) (6:52), Sheila Jones (1st VW60) (7:10), Charlene Leyden (7:11), Lucie Tighe (7:12), Ken Smith (7:23), Alison Howarth (7:46), David Schofield (7:46), Stephen Crowe (7:52), Katherine Swithenbank (7:52), Charlotte Holden (7:57), Steve Hamer (8:17), Sarah Wilson (8:22), Kathryn Davies (8:31), Elaine Bailey (8:34), Lisa Riley (8:41), Helen Kay (8:49), Caroline Malone (9:03), Ella Henry (9:08), Tracy Wroe (9:29), Michael Scott (10:26), Andy Wheeler (11:20), Sara Parry (11:32) and Iain Harris (11:52).

 

Lisa Riley took part in Smithy’s 5 Mile Trail race on Saturday, completing the scenic route in 1:03:18. Held in Egerton, this year’s race helped to raise funds for Fort Alice and Endeavour Project.

 

On the same day, Ladies Captain Caroline Malone headed to Hereford where she celebrated her 50th parkrun in a time of 31:58. Congratulations on the milestone!
