Huge Radcliffe AC turnout at Haigh Hall

A whopping 33 members travelled to Wigan on the very sunny Wednesday evening for the Haigh Hall 4 Mile, the 5th race in the Central Lancashire Grand Prix.

Steven Fawcett finished first for the club, speeding round the two lap course in 26:18. Other results were Christopher Mihalyi (27:43), Alex Field (28:57), Mark Williams (29:04), Michael Kontowtt (29:24), Mark Taylor (29:28), Paul Stevens (30:02), Jack Connor (31:50), Mark Garner  (32:26), Dominic Parry (32:28), Amanda Callan (32:42), Sheila Jones (1st FV70) ( 32:47), Kath Biddle (33:05), Ethan Malone (33:23), Laura Aiken (33:35), Lucie Tighe (33:40), Charlene Leyden (34:40), Karen Doherty (34:52), Lisa Antrobus (35:19), David Bartlett (36:07), Sarah Wilson (36:27), Steve Hamer (36:34), Katherine Swithenbank (37:48), David Schofield (38:13), Louise Shield (38:19), Elaine Bailey (3rd FV65) ( 38:44),  Stephen Crowe (39:12), Helen Kay (42:09), John Szubert (44:23), Tracy Wroe (46:03), Bev Quinton (50:19), Sara Parry (51:09), Andy Wheeler (52:16).

Junior member Grace also took part in the latest fixture in the Bury AC Mini League, which included 80m and 600m races, javelin throwing and long jumping.  

The fourth fell race in the Run the Moors series, Walsh Two Lads, was held on Thursday evening. 12 members scrambled through 274 metres of ascent across 8.4km, with Ian Swan completing the challenge first in 43:16, followed by Christopher Mihalyi (45:09), Donna Cartwright (46:30), Mark Taylor (48:39), Mark Garner (48:57), Neil Greenhalgh (50:17), Lucie Tighe (54:40), Chemane Thomas (56:06),  Karen Doherty (58:16), Stephen Crowe (1:00:27), Peter Warr (1:03:51) and Michael Scott (1:22:48).

Thursday kicked off the Tour, comprising of four very different routes throughout Tameside over four consecutive days. In an especially impressive show of running, Kath Biddle, Dominic Parry and Sara Parry completed all four races in the series fresh from their efforts at Haigh Hall.

The first race was the 10k Tameside X-Trail, which was completed by Adam Wills (52:37), Dominic Parry (54:06), Kath Biddle (55:35), Andrew O’Donnell (56:21), Helen Kay (1:16:20) and Sara Parry (1:26:40).

Next up, Adam Wills (59:21), Andrew O’Donnell (1:02:33), Kath Biddle (1:02:44), Dominic Parry (1:38:16) and Sara Parry (1:38:17) braved the 6 mile Hell on the Fell on Friday.

The Hero Half Marathon on Saturday was completed by Adam Wills (2:02:02), Dominic Parry (1:58:16), Kath Biddle (02:10:30) and Sara Parry (3:12:00).

On the same day, Chris Paknik tackled The Wall, a 70 mile ultra marathon through historic Hadrian’s Wall country, in 18 hours 56 minutes 2 seconds.

The final race of The Tour, the Dr Ron Hyde 7 mile, was finished by members Adam Wills (58:33), Kath Biddle (1:01:36), Andrew O’Donnell (1:09:24), Dominic Parry (1:09:24), Helen Kay (1:20:46) and Sara Parry (1:38:46) on Sunday.  

Juniors Skyler and Thomas also took part in the Dr Ron Hyde My First Mile.

Mark Taylor finished up another busy week for the club with the Leeds 10k, racing round the city in a fantastic time of 43:44.
