Radcliffe AC members took on the annual Two Crosses Challenge on the weekend, held by the East Lancs Long Distance Walkers Association. Participants choose between an 18- and 26-mile route that takes runners and walkers up to the Roman Cross at Affetside and the Pilgrim’s Cross on Holcombe Moor. Paul Stevens completed the 26-mile route in 7 hours, 1 minute. On the 18-mile event, Donna Cartwright led the team home in 2:57:00, followed by Karen Doherty and Kathryn Davies (both 3:50:00), and Sheila McNulty (4:47:00).
On a sunny weekend full of race activity, a half dozen Radcliffers raced the Smithy’s Charity Trail Run on Saturday, heling to raise vital funds for Bolton Hospice. Ken Smith was first over the line for Radcliffe in 48.25, followed by Lucie Tighe (49.34), Emm Wolstencroft (1:00:17), Laura Aiken (1:00:18), Louise Shield (1:03:49), and Lisa Riley (1:08:16).
A second half dozen Radcliffe runners completed the Chester 10k on Sunday, starting near the iconic racecourse, and guiding runners through the historic city. Dominic Parry was first over the line for Radcliffe in 48:00, followed by Chemane Thomas (54:03), Elaine Bailey (59:05), Helen Kay (1:02:25), Sara Parry (1:16:43), and Bev Quinton (1:18:27).
Elsewhere, Sheila Jones ran the Trimpell 20 Mile Race in 3:17:13, and Khama Banda completed the Paris Half Marathon in 1:19:47.
