THIRTY-ONE Radcliffe AC members lined up at Leverhulme Park on Sunday for the annual Bolton 5k. The first race in the 2025 season of the Central Lancs Grand Prix league. Included in the results are an impressive NINE personal best performances over the 5k distance.

Khama Banda was first for Radcliffe in 17:15, followed by Gary Adkins in 17:54 (PB). Paula Abernethy was the first lady for Radcliffe, suitably wearing the number 1 bib, finishing in 23:47. Before the race, five Radcliffe athletes were presented with awards for their achievements in the 2024 Central Lancs Grand Prix. Elaine Bailey, Lucie Tighe, and Michael Kontwott all came second place in their age categories, whilst Wayne Holden and Helen Kay were acknowledged for running more than 11 races in the previous season.

Elsewhere, Kath Biddle was out and about again running weird and wonderful half marathons (we expect nothing less). This week it was the Village Bakery Half Marathon. A flat road race around the villages of Wrexham, as well as a medal you get a choice of crumpets or Welsh cakes at the end. Kath completed the race in 1:58:36.

Craig Norman was at the Prestwich Canicross Time Trial Race on Sunday with his dog Lola. Taking on 5 miles of undulating hills through Philips Park, Outwood Trail, and Hurst Woods in their first ever canicross race, Lola and Craig managed an excellent second place with a time of 36:47.
