Radcliffe runners flock to Blackburn for a Winter Warmer

Radcliffe AC seniors and juniors took on the Winter Warmer at the weekend, held by Blackburn Road Runners. The event features a 2k junior race and 10k senior race within the surroundings of Witton Park. Runners took on the challenging ascent of Buncer Lane, followed by a scenic descent through Pleasington’s countryside before making a triumphant return to the track for a race finish.

 

In the 10k senior race Steven Fawcett was first across the line for Radcliffe in 42mins, 26secs, whilst Laura Aiken was Radcliffe’s first lady, claiming a fantastic new 10k personal best in the process with a time of 51:26.

 

Also running for Radcliffe in the senior race were: Alex Field (45:32), Sheila Jones (51:58), Jack Connor (51:45), Paul Benson (52:31), Brennan Tighe (52:52), Karen Doherty (57:00), Amy Brough-Aikin (58:09), Sarah Wilson (58:44), Elaine Bailey (1:01:15), Cath Jones (1:02:24), Peter Warr (1:03:38), Helen Kay (1:06:17), Tracy Wroe (1:16:20), Bev Quinton (1:19:16), Sara Parry (1:19:28), Michael Scott (1:19:28), and Andy Wheeler (1:23:07).

 

In the Junior 2k race at Blackburn, Seth Berger was first for Radcliffe with a new PB of 9:50. Indie Curzon was second for Radcliffe in 11:20, followed by George Antrobus (12:15), Aoife Warr (14:31), Benjamin Tighe (14:46), Skyler Parry (16:17), and Poppy Aiken (16:20).

 

Elsewhere, Mark Taylor completed the Rombalds Stride in West Yorkshire on Saturday in a time of 4:29:33. This tough 22-mile run takes runners up Airedale Valley over Rombalds Moor, through to Ilkley and across Otley Chevin.
