RAC juniors had their awards party this week where they celebrated each other’s successes over the past 12 months. They danced, ate, sang, played, and the best performers of the year received their awards.
Award winners:
Most Improved Junior: Aoife Warr
RAC Spirit award: Grace O'Donnell
Junior of the Year: Benjie Tighe
Juniors' Junior: Steve Wood
Commitment to the Cause: Oliver Swan
The RAC Juniors were also out running in the week at Run Media City. Seth Berger ran 8:43, followed by Indie Curzon in 10:38.
Over to the seniors, and Kath Biddle rounded off an epic year of racing at the Pisa Marathon last week. Kath ran the flat route taking in the history of the city, through a nature park and along the sea, finishing in the thousand-year-old Piazza Duomo with a time of 4:41:34.
Ryan Hallworth was also on overseas marathon duty, finishing the Abu Dhabi Marathon in 84th place with a time of 3:04:59.
Paul Stevens took part in The Winter Tolkien Trail Race with a chip time of 1:05:57. Starting on the Avenue of the stunning Stonyhurst College, where Tolkien himself spent time and wrote parts of the Lord of the Rings, the aptly distanced 11.1km route takes in landscapes and features that influenced the characteristic qualities of Middle Earth.
There was a fancy dress takeover last weekend at the Burrs Community Run. 27 RAC runners braved the drizzly conditions to run, jog, plod or walk the 2k or 5k route in their Christmas gear with their Christmas cheer.
