Annette McQueen from Radcliffe AC completed the two-day Ultra X Madeira race last weekend as second placed female. This epic multi-day ultramarathon takes runners through the mountainous and picturesque Portuguese island of Madeira. The challenging and technical route includes steep climbs, muddy trails, steep drops, and rocky paths, with a total distance of 110 kilometres and an ascent of more than 6000 meters. McQueen came in as second female and 11th overall with a total time of 18 hours, 56 mins, 41 secs. McQueen was joined by two fellow Radcliffe AC teammates on this adventure of a race, Warren Simmens (26:32:01) and Kath Biddle (29:02:15).
There was a large turnout of Radcliffe AC runners at the Windmill 10k on remembrance Sunday, with Steven Fawcett leading the team along the Fylde Coast, bagging a new personal best in the process. Fawcett finished third MV45 in a time of 38 mins, 41.94 secs. Andrew O’Donnell was next for Radcliffe in 41:56.49, followed by Alex Field, also with a new PB, in 42:42.23. Also racing for Radcliffe were: Dominic Parry (45:25.92), Adam Wills (45:47.20), Paul Stevens (PB: 48:41.34), Paula Abernethy (49:43.35), Sheila Jones (49:55.67), David Bartlett (51:22.16), Ethan Malone (52:10.10), Jack Connor (52:37.62), Alison Howarth (53:53.86), Laura Aiken (59:26.36), Charlotte Holden (1:01:31.84), Jen Foley (1:12:22.99), Ruth Clarke (1:14:39.39), Bev Quinton (1:19:48.10), and Sara Parry (1:19:52.43).
Four Radcliffe athletes competed In Round 2 of the Manchester Area Cross Country League on Saturday in Wythenshawe Park. Mark Garner and Dominic Parry finished the senior men’s 10k race in 47:10 and 51:40 respectively. In the ladies 8k race Mia Derbyshire ran 41:47, followed by Eileen Sharman in 52:28.
Khama Banda set a new personal best in the 5k distance last week as he rubbed shoulders with Olympic medallists, world champions, and Team GB athletes at the Podium 5k in Barrowford. Banda clocked an impressive 17 mins, 24.06 secs to claim a new personal best at this elite level event.
