Good showing for Radcliffe at Towneley Cross Country

It was round 2 of the Red Rose Cross Country league on Saturday at Towneley Park, and Radcliffe AC were well represented across the age and gender categories.

 

In the under 11 boys category, Clevon ran the 2km distance in 11mins, 14secs, followed by Benjamin in 12:11. Grace was first for Radcliffe in the under 11 girls in 10:49, closely followed by Skyler in 10:59. Aoife raced the 2.5k under 13 girls race in 16:31.

 

Chemane Thomas was first across the line for Radcliffe in the 5km ladies race, completing the 1.5 loop of Towneley Park in 26:32. Karen Doherty was second lady for Radcliffe in 29:29, followed by Kathryn Davies (29:33), Lucie Tighe (31:04), and Elaine Bailey (31:22).

 

In the 10km race, Mark Garner led Radcliffe’s men around the three long laps in 42:50. Jules Davies was the second placed man for Radcliffe in 45:05, followed by Dominic Parry (48:14), Paul Stevens (48:23), Brennan Tighe (50:32), and Peter Warr (57:19).

 

On Sunday there was another good RAC showing at the Accrington 10k Road Race, an undulating route along rural and urban roads, with plenty of uphill. Alex Field was first for Radcliffe in 43:43, followed by Michael Kontowtt who came second in his age category (M60) with a great time of 44:33. Also running at Accrington for Radcliffe AC were Dominic Parry (48:00), David Bartlett (53:42), Ross Calvert (57:00), Kathryn Davies (57:27), Lucie Tighe (59:52), Cath Jones (1:02:37), Bev Quinton (1:23:41), and Sara Parry (1:23:44).
