Another Big Week of Racing for Radcliffe AC

Midweek saw Round 9 of the fell running championship Run The Moors, with the Holcombe Two Towers Fell Race. Featuring two ascents up to Peel Tower, the Two Towers is a relatively short race at just over 6km, but with some unforgiving climbs and ran this year in particularly challenging muddy conditions. Christopher Mihalyi was first for Radcliffe in 49mins, 16secs, and Kathryn Davies was a magnificent first VF60, coming in just under the hour in 59:36. Also racing were David Rushton (51:30), Mark Garner (53:25), Lee Turner (54:04), Neil Greenhalgh (55:04), Karen Doherty (1:02:52), Scott Rosevere (1:05:35), Ethan Malone (1:08:43), Alison Howarth (1:10:55), and Louise Shield (1:20:02).

 

Also midweek was the Blackpool Night Run, a 7.5km fun run taking in Blackpool’s famous illuminations, and raising funds for Brian House Children’s Hospice. Dominic Parry led Radcliffe along the Fylde Coast in 34:04, followed by Paul Stevens (36:50), Deborah Warrington (57:19), Bev Quinton (57:21), Stephen Crowe (58:15), Erica Parry (59:10), Sara Parry (1:00:58), Heidi Parry (1:00:58), Skyler Parry (1:03:16), Lucie Tighe (1:03:16), Benjamin Tighe (1:03:34), and Brennan Tighe (1:03:36).

 

It was also Round 9 of Central Lancashire Grand Prix at the weekend, with the Blackleach 5 Mile Trail Race. Steven Fawcett was first for Radcliffe at 9th overall with a time of 33mins, 21secs. Steven was closely followed on the two lap course at Blackleach Country Park by Ian Swan in 33:43, and Michael Kontowtt who was first MV60 in 34:41. Other results: Alex Field (34:51), Mark Williams (35:47), Christopher Mihalyi (36:16), Mark Garner (36:33), Dave Rushton (38:21), Paula Abernethy (41:14), David Bartlett (42:33), Sheila Jones (42:48), Neil Greenhalgh (43:35), Karen Doherty (44:30), Paul Stevens (45:17), Alison Howarth (45:35), Elaine Bailey (47:55), Eileen Sharman (48:38), Wayne Holden (49:13), Peter Warr (49:49), Lucy Tetler (51:40), Tracy Wroe (53:02), Helen Kay (53:18), Jen Foley (56:36), Natalie Hitchen (59:48), Sarah Rushton (59:49), Andy Wheeler (1:03:19), Bev Quinton (1:07:06), and Iain Harris (1:07:08).

 

This weekend also witnessed Helen Kay’s 500th Parkrun, a milestone 14 years in the making. Helen was celebrating the event at Heaton Parkrun with enthusiastic support by senior and junior members of Radcliffe AC.

 

Further afield, Emma Wolstencroft ran the undulating Garstang Half Marathon in 2:14:05 and Nigel Brady completed the Ray McGloin Duathlon in 2:26:34.
