The One with the Magical Mystery Tour!

Radcliffe Athletics Club took Bakewell by storm on Saturday as they competed in the Monsal 10k Trail Race, described as ‘one of the most iconic trails in the Peak District’. It was an early start for the club who set off from Radcliffe at 6.30am for what turned out to be a truly magnificent day out! Finishing in FIRST PLACE was Christian Peters in an incredible 38:00, followed by Andrew O’Donnell in 41:41 (4th place overall) and Ian Swan in 42:20 (6th place overall). This meant that the boys took home the male team trophy on the day! Not to be outdone by the boys, the girls of the club took first, second and third place females over the line with Mia Derbyshire leading the pack in 48:07 (10th place overall), followed by Chemane Golding in 51:20 and Sheila Jones in 52:19. Also in action were Mark Williams (44:31), Dominic Parry (47:53), Dave Rushton (48:33), Mark Taylor (51:46), Charlene Leyden (53:07), Ken Smith (53:36), Brennan Tighe (54:21), Karen Doherty (54:56), Alison Howarth (57:20), Emma Wolstencroft (59:38), Sarah Wilson (59:45), Louise Shield (01:01:02), Lucie Tighe (01:02:04), Stephen Crowe (01:04:57), Lucy Tetler (01:05:19), Helen Kay (01:07:39), Wayne Holden (01:08:12), Tracy Wroe (01:09:06), Sheila McNulty (01:11:24), Sarah Rushton (01:14:15) and Natalie Hitchen (01:14:29). It was another huge turnout for the local club who spent the day celebrating in Bakewell with puddings and beer!

In action on the fells at the third Run the Moors race were Mark Garner, Neil Greenhalgh and Craig Norman. They completed the 7-mile Wardle Skyline, hosted by Rochdale Harriers. The ever-popular race takes in at least five local hills along a circular path and finishes with a sting in its tail! Craig Norman was first in for Radcliffe in 01:01:01 followed by Mark Garner in 01:08:21 then Neil Greenhalgh in 01:10:12.

Our regular marathon runner, Kath Biddle, took a trip to the seaside to compete in the Brighton Marathon. The sun was shining as she ran the 26.2 miles in a cracking 04:54:11. Further afield, and also enjoying the sunshine, were Jakub Bramwell, Ryan Hallworth and Joshua Bramwell. They were in action in the beautiful Milan Marathon finishing in 03:17:43, 03:30:44 and 04:02:24 respectively.
