Winning start to 2024 for RAC1 January 2024 (by D.Cartwright) |
Donna Cartwright got 2024 off to a winning start when she was the first woman home at Clowbridge trail 5k.
She was among five Radcliffe Athletic Club members who completed the two laps of Clowbridge Reservoir in Burnley on New Year’s Day.
Donna was also fifth overall in 22:33 while Mark Garner was first MV50 in 24:05 and Si Foulkes ran 25:38. With very wet conditions underfoot, Karen Wells clocked 28:17 and Sarah Wilson finished in 35:20.
The great performances continued when members laced up their trainers to mark the end of 2023.
Sheila Jones rounded off a fantastic year by coming second VW65 at the Ribble Valley 10k road race in 48:39. The notoriously fast course attracted a top field as it also served as the North of England 10k Championships.
Kath Davies ran 56:38 ahead of Tracy Wroe in 1:07:20 and Bev Quinton who ran 1:19:31.
Club members were also in parkrun action either side of New Year. There was a great turnout at Heaton Park January 1 when Dominic Parry ran 29.54 in his 250th parkrun while Peter Warr completed his 50th milestone in 30:38.
