RAC milestones at NHS parkrun celebration

Radcliffe AC members notched up their own milestones as parkruns around the country celebrated the NHS’s 75th birthday.

Elaine Bailey, Bev Quinton and Andy Wheeler completed their 250th, 150th and 50th parkruns respectively at Peel, while Stephen Crowe ran his 100th parkrun at Endcliffe.

Many participants at Saturday’s events wore the trademark NHS blue while others donned fancy dress.

The biggest Radcliffe contingent was at Peel, with members out in force to celebrate their teammates’ milestones.

Simon Foulkes was the club’s first finisher in 20:58 followed by Mark Taylor (21:14), Chemane Golding (26:18), Karen Doherty (27:25), Elaine Bailey (28:01), Emma Wolstencroft (29:01), Tracy Wroe (31:34), Helen Kay (35:00 as a volunteer pacer), Andy Wheeler (37:42), Bev Quinton (39:33), Caroline Malone (39:34), Deborah Warrington (39:34), Michael Scott (42:26) and Iain Harris (42:27).

Gary Adkins was sixth in 18:08 at Heaton parkrun where he was joined by junior Robbie Parkinson who ran 24:42, Martin Archer (25:05) and Katherine Biddle (26:48). At Bolton, Mark Williams clocked 30:00, Kathryn Davies (31:30) and David Schofield (37:17).

Results from elsewhere: Banstead Woods - Jackie Faith (33:02); Endcliffe – Stephen Crowe (30:48); Fountains Abbey – Sheila Jones (24:58); Lyme Park – Peter Hunter (26:22); Nova Prestatyn – Mark Garner (22:33); Stretford – Bradleigh Holmes (22:35); Worsley Woods – Rob Shiels (21:09).

Five Radcliffe runners contented with hot conditions at the popular Wilmslow Summer 10k on Sunday.

Rob Shiels ran 42:22 on the fast course ahead of Mia Derbyshire in 45:22. Stephen Crowe clocked 58:06 while pacing a friend, Helen Kay ran 1:00:04 and Bev Quinton 1:19:23.

It was a busy week for Shiels who also ran 42:56 at the midweek Rochdale 10k while Elaine Bailey was third VW60 in 1:00:52 on the hilly course.

Jackie Faith was also in 10k action, running 1:03:51 at Sunday’s Asics London 10k.
