Five Radcliffe Athletic Club runners were among the tens of thousands of people who took part in the world-famous London Marathon.
They completed the 26.2-mile course which starts in Greenwich Park and takes in landmarks including the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and Buckingham Palace.
Gary Adkins was the club’s first finisher, knocking two minutes off his personal best to clock 2:57:10. Next across the iconic finishing line on The Mall was Mia Derbyshire in 3:34:53, followed by Peter Hunter in 3:45:31. Paul Benson ran 4:06:35 and Tracy Wroe finished in 5:34:07.
Away from the marathon, Sheila Jones notched up the amazing achievement of her 500th parkrun, running 25:08 to finish first VW65 at Heaton Park. Also at Heaton Parkrun were Mark Taylor who ran 22:25 and Charlene Leyden who finished in 23:41.
Three Radcliffe runners also warmed up for the London Marathon by taking part in the popular Saturday morning 5k parkruns.
Mia Derbyshire was the eighth woman at Oldham in 25:43 and Peter Hunter clocked 27:52 at Preston. Tracy Wroe ran 36:59 at Victoria Dock while Bev Quinton, who travelled to London to support her, finished in 36:50.
Other members also clocked great parkrun times. John Gibbs was fourth at Crosby in a flying 18:55 and Alex Pullan was fifth in 19:07 at Richmond Park.
Elaine Bailey was first WV60 and sixth woman in 28:12 at Hyde. Other results were: Burnage – Helen Kay (30:10); Halifax – Stephen Crowe (28:55); Peel – Ethan Malone (23:35) and Charlotte Holton (25:25); York - Rob Shiels (19:42).
