Radcliffe Athletic Club runners didn’t put their feet up during the festive session!
They were in action at a variety of races – from the road to the fells - with members picking up wins along the way.
Sheila Jones continued her impressive year when she was first VW65 in 48:27 at the Ribble Valley 10k. Regarded as one of the country’s top races over the distance, it incorporated the Northern Athletics 10K and once again attracted talented athletes from across the country.
Also taking part were: Rob Shiels (41:29), Kathryn Davies (53:26), Stephen Crowe 1:00:39, Lucy Tetler (1:01:46); Helen Kay (1:02:54), Tracy Wroe (1:05:51) and Bev Quinton 1:15:57
There was also a win for Alex Pullan at the hilly Rothbury Festive 10k. Despite the icy conditions, he was first under-20, and a fantastic sixth overall, at in a new PB of 39:38.
Ian Swan had to contend with hailstones and steep climbs at the traditional Whinberry Naze Dash Fell on Boxing Day. He was 55th in a great 32:51 at the four-mile fell race which has 750ft of climbing above Rossendale.
Radcliffe members took part in a variety of parkruns on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day – with some doing both!
