Robbie Parkinson has been crowned Radcliffe Athletic Club’s junior of the year.
The 15-year-old was awarded the honour in recognition of a great year of running.
A regular 5k park runner both at home and while on holiday, his fastest time this year was an impressive 22:44 at Heaton Park.
He also ran a speedy 51:34 at this year’s Bury 10k, earning him a Top 200 position out of 729 runners, and has represented the club at cross country.
Parkinson regularly attends the club’s junior training sessions at Radcliffe Leisure Centre and has also stepped up to take part in the club’s adult track sessions.
He was presented with his plaque by Peter Warr, the head of RAC’s junior section, who said: “Robbie is consistently enthusiastic, always pushes himself hard and enjoys every aspect of training and running.
“He really embodies everything that our club is about!”
Many events were once again cancelled because of the freezing weather, but that didn’t put off Stephen Crowe! He arrived at Skipton parkrun only to find that it was cancelled, so made a quick dash to the event at Pendle instead.
Ten minutes late for the start, he managed to catch a few runners. His official time was 40:51 but he actually ran 32:10, despite having the wrong shoes for the snowy and icy course.
