RAC runners beat the chill at Blackburn Winter Warmer

Speedy Sheila Jones won her age category at the Blackburn Winter Warmer for the second year on the trot.
The WV65 was among four club members in the 545-strong field at Sunday’s popular 10k.
Jones clocked a scorching 50:43 in chilly conditions on the challenging course which takes runners up the notorious Buncer Lane hill.
Also running were Karen Doherty who knocked 1 min and 27 seconds off her 10k pb to finish in 54:45. Elaine Bailey ran 1:00:35 and Lucy Tetler finished in 01:01:58.
Jones was presented with a trophy, while all the runners received a medal commemorating the 30th anniversary of the event.
Two Radcliffe youngsters also received medals after taking part in the junior 2k race. Oliver Swan ran 11:06 and Lucas Paxton was second M10 in 11:16.
Jones and Bailey were among the Radcliffe runners who were out in force at the popular Saturday morning 5k parkruns.
Jones ran 23:36 to once again finish first VW65 at Heaton Park. Joining her were: Rob Shiels (19:27), Brandon Wilkinson who bagged a new 5k pb of 20:25, Katherine Biddle (26:34) and Charles Whalley (47:13).
Bailey was first WV60 in 30:21 at Pennington Flash where Helen Kay ran 30:57 and Bev Quinton finished in 40:28.
